CLARA VS. INFINITY CASTING CALL

We are looking for six actors to join our cast of Clara vs. Infinity, a world premiere play by Zack Rocklin-Waltch and produced by Eight Ball Theatre. 

Clara vs. Infinity is an ensemble play that revolves around Clara, a twelve-year-old girl who embarks on an epic adventure to recite as many digits of Pi as possible and bring home a $10k prize to her mother. But under the surface, Clara is grieving the suicide of her father the year prior. As a way to cope with the never-ending abyss of grief, Clara has invented characters for the digits 0-9, all with their distinct quirks, personalities, and roles to play in her story. Functioning like a Greek Chorus, they build the environments Clara journeys through and transform into the people she encounters along her way.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

ONE: A ringleader. Energetic. Excited to be here. Any gender. Plays the clarinet / or a similar instrument.

THREE: A third wheel. Big-hearted. Overjoyed to be included. Male. Ideally plays guitar, viola, drums, or accordion. 

FIVE: A devil’s advocate. Logical. Cares more than you’d think. Male. Ideally plays guitar, viola, drums, or accordion. 

SIX: A big sister. Nurturing. Doesn’t always know how to help. Female. Ideally plays guitar, viola, drums, or accordion. 

SEVEN: An older brother. Insecure. Susceptible to neuroses. Male. Ideally plays guitar, viola, drums, or accordion. 

EIGHT: A teacher. Pompous. Thinks you need to hear their perspective. Any gender. Ideally plays guitar, viola, drums, or accordion. 

PRODUCTION DETAILS 

• Non-union and union encouraged to submit (union members are eligible through the LA Self-Produced Project Code)

• Actors will receive a small percentage of the ticket sales 

• Important Dates 

• Weeknights starting March 17th through April 4th (exact days TBD)

• Tech days are April 7th through April 9th 

• Performances Friday through Sunday starting April 10th through April 26th (4 shows per weekend)
